Weird Al Yankovics is not your average rock star.
His music is about as weird as it gets.
It’s just the perfect combination of rock n roll and a weird sense of humor.
But, he’s not alone.
We’re just getting started.
He’s also a co-founder of the new podcast “WeirdAlYankovic” (he also hosts a podcast called “The Al Yanks”).
His first podcast, “We Can’t Stop” (available on iTunes), has been one of the best-selling podcasts in the history of podcasting, with over 3 million downloads.
Yankovi has been a huge part of the weird rock community since he first recorded his first track in the late ’80s.
He started playing at local clubs in the 1990s, then became the lead singer of the band The Bizarre One in the early ’00s.
The band went on to record three albums, two of which won Grammys.
His other albums include a single for “The Bizarre” and “It’s Just Not Weird,” which were released in 2012.
Yanks first book, The Weird and The Wonderful (2017), was the bestselling of his career, with more than 3 million copies sold.
It was also a bestseller on Amazon.com, where it was the #1 bestseller of the year.
And he’s also the co-host of the popular podcast, The Al Yanked Show.
The Al’s first book was called “Mystery Science Theater 3000,” which he also co-wrote.
It follows a young man who finds himself in a bizarre and strange world.
It is one of many weird stories Yank has told over the years, and it is one that has always resonated with the fans.
The book also includes interviews with artists including Elton John, John Lennon, and Frank Zappa.
Yanked also wrote an autobiography titled “The Weird Al: How to Survive a Rock & Roll World,” and a film adaptation of the book called “Yank & Co.”
He’s an avid music fan, and his favorite band is Pearl Jam.
So how did Yank come to co-found Weird Al’s podcast?
“It started as a joke between myself and my wife,” Yank says.
“My wife had always been a fan of ’80’s and ’90s weird rock and pop, and we always talked about how the music was all about weirdness.
So, we started thinking about what we could do together, and, well, we had a very funny idea.”
Yank’s wife, a music lover, had an idea for a podcast.
She thought it would be fun to see if a band would join us.
“She started making a list of bands that had a weirdness in common, like The Beach Boys, The Rolling Stones, etc. We figured we could bring a few of them on, and put together a podcast,” Yanks says.
So we called up some of our favorite bands and asked them to join.
After a couple of weeks of listening to some of their music, they all agreed.
“The list was pretty insane, so I thought, ‘Well, maybe this would be a good idea to put together the podcast.’
I said, ‘Okay, you’re going to have to listen to this.'”
And we did.
“We have so many great artists that I think would really fit,” Yanking says.
The list included Pearl Jam, the Beach Boys and, of course, The Grateful Dead.
“This is really fun, it’s kind of like a cross between a TV show and a movie,” Yanka says.
Yanka is the coauthor of “We Are Weird: A History of the Weird.”
Yanks podcast has since been featured in multiple music publications, including the Huffington Post, the New York Times, and Vice.
Yanking and his band are currently touring in support of their new album.
“It really has been an honor to be part of a podcast that has so many fans, and so many people that have come to love it,” Yanked says.
He adds that they’re going in with an optimistic attitude.
“When we started this podcast, I didn’t have any expectations that this would have a long life, but we’ve had a lot of fans over the past year,” Yansky says.
But Yankins podcast has also drawn criticism.
The show has been labeled as “toxic” by fans and has been the subject of a petition to have the show banned from YouTube.
“What is this podcast about?
This is about the strangeness of a band that is known for its weirdness,” YANKIN says.
Some people also claim that Yankin and his team are intentionally making the show less popular.
